Slow Week

Hmmm, another slow week here. All I have to show is what I’ve done on the Tardis:

Hopefully I can finish it up in the next few days, as I have one more project I wanted to make for my friend still. Then on top of that I need to start Lizzie Kate’s “The ABC’s of Aging Artfully”, which I’m doing as a wedding gift for another friend. I need to stitch faster!

Have a great stitching week!

Zebra and the Ghost Leopard (and Some Randomness)

Well, only a smallish bit of progress on the animal heads once again. I did get the leopard head finished though, sans backstitch, and put some more onto the zebra.

I’ve nicknamed the leopard a ghost leopard, because his eyes look spooky right now, haha. At least the backstitch will provide some much needed definition. For now though, I don’t blame the zebra for hiding from him J.
I also made a start on the next small gift for my friend. It doesn’t look like much yet, but here it is so far:

Lastly for today, the very lovely Topcho and EveningEmma both nominated me for the Liebster award! Here is the info about it:
Liebster is a german word meaning favourite, dearest or beloved. The Liebster is awarded by bloggers to other new bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers, to help spread the word about their blogs and to help them gain wider recognition.

The Liebster award comes with four conditions that each recipient must satisfy when accepting.

1. Choose 5 up-and-coming blogs with less than 200 followers to award the Liebster to

2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.

3. Post the award on your blog. List the bloggers you are giving the award to with links to their sites. Leave comments on their blog so they know about the award.

4. Share 5 random facts about yourself that people dont know about you.

I had a hard time picking five people to pass it on to, mostly because it seems like nearly everyone has already received it! So I’ll just list some blogs I think are worth checking out, but this is by no means an exhaustive list J.
1.     ishkabibble- She has some neat final fantasy pieces she’s working on and some cool patterns she's made as well.
2.    A Riot Patch of Pixels- Karyn does some very awesome cross stitch pieces often based on the artwork of Abysswolf.
3.    Carolyn's Stitchings- Besides showing her amazing finished pieces she also posts excellent patterns (but then I might be a bit biased J).
4.    Tiki Stitches- Tiki always seems to have some beautiful and fun pieces in the works and she finishes them off so nicely too J.
5.    Heli's Stitchery- She has some large projects she’s working on right now including a gorgeous mandala and a HAED.

I was already beaten to the punch for most of these blogs, but they’re definitely worth a second look! And though the rules state the award is only for blogs with less than 200 followers there’s a few more I wanted to point out that I really admire:
1.     Dork Stitch- Missy-tannenbaum has tons of amazing sprite and portrait patterns that are just a joy to stitch. She also shows pictures of the neat projects she’s working on too (like her sprite standees!).
2.    Random Ramblings- Joysze does some really gorgeous pieces that are lovely to see progress. She’s also the host for the monthly IHSW J.
3.    Diary of a Manbroider- Manbroider just astounds me with his work. He always has several stunning pictures he’s working on.

Whew, bit long winded I know! Now for the last bit, 5 random facts about me.
1.     I don’t like grapefruit.
2.    My top 5 favorite smells (in no particular order) are strawberries, coffee, peanut butter, the ocean and tulips.
3.    Although I’ve lived near the Rockies my whole life I’ve never been skiing or snowboarding.
4.    I sat in the same audience for a black box performance as Viggo Mortensen.
5.    Like so many other stitchers I also love reading.

Ok I think that’s enough for now so,
Have a great stitching week!

IHSW for March

Another third weekend has come and gone so it’s time for an update! The hermitting aspect didn’t go too well, but I still got some stitches in J. I worked again on the animal heads after a week long absence and it was good to get back to them. I only filled in a portion of the leopard’s ears though, so not much is new.

I was able to finish two sprites I had stared though. These are part of the group of things I’m making for my friend’s birthday. They’re from the very neat patterns that Dork Stitch makes; Sailor Jupiter you’ve seen before, but this time I made Lita (Makoto) too. The plan for these is to turn them into a pair of magnets.

Now to get on with making the last few presents before I run out of time, haha!
Have a great stitching week!

Some spotty progress

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’ve got to remember to wear green today, lest the leprechauns send in the frogs, haha. I don’t have much of an update this time. The leopard got a bit more put in but otherwise I haven’t touched it since last week!

The reason for this poor showing is that I started gridding my Sailor Moon piece. It’s taking a while and now I’m ready for a break on it. Hopefully with it being IHSW this weekend I’ll be able to get some stitching in.
Have a great stitching week!

March WIPocalypse update

Alright, it’s full moon time again, so that means another check in. What have I been doing this past month? Not too much it feels like, but slowly progress is being made J. I continued to add more to my London picture and got everything up to the same place. You can see where I left off in this post here. I also made some more progress on David and finished one side of him, which you can see here.
Once March started I decided to get out another project that’s on my WIPocalypse list and one I haven’t worked on in forever. It’s probably the oldest WIP I have going so I thought I would see if I could move it along some. Here’s where I left off many a year ago:

It’s a Dimensions kit of three animal heads titled, not surprisingly, Wildlife Trio. The dark brown that is stitched is actually all there is of that color (apparently I was way into counting back then, and way better at it too, haha). But now after working on it for the past week it looks like this:

Woah, there’s a giraffe head! He’s actually done now except for the backstitch and I’ve made small starts on the leopard and zebra heads. I suppose it’s just proof that it’s not that hard (so I’m not sure why it laid around all those years), but it’s moving now J. Who knows, maybe my March Madness goal will be to see if I can finish it up, haha.
Finally for today I have another update on Blue Moon. It’s starting to live up to its name, as I recently put in some 939 on the right side. With the exception of one stitch (where I need to look up the correct color) the first 300 stitches in the upper left corner are done. Woo hoo!

Have a great stitching week!

A Little Bookmark

Well I finished up the Hufflepuff bookmark this week, stitching wise at least. Now I just need to find some nice fabric for the back and sew it together.

Not too much else to report today. I’ve pulled out another WIPocalypse piece that I haven’t touched in a looooong time, with the intention of moving it along for Thursday’s post. More on that later. Otherwise I’ve still yet to start (gasp) gridding my Sailor Moon project. I’m still testing some sewing thread out on the fabric, but once I get that figured out I’ll be on my way, haha.
Have a great stitching week!
